Our Corporate Social Responsibility refers to all aspects of our company’s responsibility towards its environment. We are part of a larger system consisting of our staff, our values and our core beliefs. We want to return to the world and the environment just as it sustains us. This policy outlines the company’s social responsibility actions.
ScopeThis policy applies to the company and its subsidiaries regardless of location. It may also refer to suppliers and partners.
Policy elementsElsi is a responsible business that meets the highest standards of professionalism and ethics. It considers all aspects and interested parties before deciding on its actions. As with all operations and activities they must be fully aligned with the company’s culture and objectives as well as with shareholder’s interests. This does not include any action that is required or prohibited by local or international law.
The company’s actions concerning its social responsibility fall under two categories:
Compliance and Pro-activeness. Compliance refers to the company’s commitment to legality and willingness to observe the values of community while conducting its business. Pro-activeness is every initiative we may take in order to help the community or natural environment and to promote human rights.
When it comes to compliance the company considers several aspects:
Legality. The company will adhere to legal guidelines in terms of procedures, fair dealing and safety. Every partnership or collaboration with external parties or organizations will be open and transparent. Corporate value and financial benefits will result only from legitimate business operations and activities. It will always respect the Law including anti-bribery and anti-corruption practices. The company is also committed to always honor its own self-regulatory policies.
Business Ethics. The company will always conduct business with integrity and respect to human rights and justice. It will establish appropriate policies and procedures that indicate several aspects of business ethics such as respect towards the consumer, moral corporate governance, anti-corruption practices etc. The company will observe the values that dominate its surroundings and will comply with the moral expectations of society.Protecting the environment. The company recognizes the need to protect the natural environment. Despite its being a business oriented organization, keeping the environment clean and unpolluted is a benefit to all of us. Actions such as disposing toxic waste and garbage, use of chemical substances etc. will always be governed by best practices to avoid contamination and pollution.
Protecting People. The company will ensure all employees and the external community will not be put to risk from health and safety hazards resulting from the company’s actions. It will also try to refrain from negatively influencing the lives of local and indigenous people by supporting diversity and the preservation of important cultural elements.
Human Rights. The company is dedicated to protecting human rights. It will remain a committed equal opportunity employer and will incorporate all fair labor practices in employee relations. It will also ensure that its business activities do not directly or indirectly support violations of human rights stipulations in any country (e.g. forced or child labor).
Pro-activeness includes a variety of actions:
Donations and Aid. The company may preserve a budget to make monetary donations. Their purpose will be twofold: they will not only be intended to advance the arts, community events and education but also to alleviate those in need.
Preserving the environment. Apart from all actions that are dictated by law, the company may be proactive when it comes to protecting the environment. Conserving energy, recycling, reforestation excursions and incorporating environment-friendly technologies are some of the activities to which the company will give serious attention.
We are currently taking steps to reduce the plastic content in our packaging and will work with retailers to move towards plastic free packaging.
Elsi is committed in its obligations towards its social and environmental agenda by inspiring, informing and enabling our staff, our suppliers and our partners to conform to these obligations. Management will ensure that this policy is communicated to all levels of our company structure, our partners and our suppliers.
